Sterling Electrical Division
Welcome to the electrical division, of Sterling Services.
Set up in 2018 and, as of writing this, turning over more than £1m a year with 14 full-time electricians, Sterling electrical is rapidly becoming one of the fastest-growing divisions within the Sterling family of services.
Please see below example case studies of the range of works, we provide.
Hope University - Ongoing - 2020
Client: Hope University
Value: £100,000 plus
Programme: 12 months
Challenge: Sterling Services are required to act as planned and preventative maintenance, test inspection and project installation provider for Liverpool Hope University ensuring that all legislative requirements in terms of Emergency Lighting and EICRs are brought to the attention of the correct manager within the correct time frame for all Campuses relating to Liverpool Hope University.
Sectional planning to avoid disruption is of high importance along with the flexibility to move quickly from one job to the next. A high flow of small but important tasks to be juggled on a daily basis between campus sites. So many small jobs create a challenge in terms of the high volume of Purchase Order requirements for acceptance of pricing for individual job descriptions.
Solution: Sterling Services have dedicated an electrical team leader and maintenance admin team to constantly plan and review work process flow and sectional planning requirements. DocuSign has been put into place in the data capturing process to ensure acceptance and tracking of pricing is timely and efficient.
Client Benefit: We offer continuous benefits to the client in terms of an organised maintenance team to ensure planning and process flows are on schedule. This allows sectional planning for required works to enable as little disruption to students and staff as possible. Our flexibility allows us to react quickly and cater to the university’s everchanging needs and specific requirements on a daily basis. DocuSign allows the customer to access and sign off on quotations anytime, anywhere allowing a smooth workflow and quick transition from job to job ultimately avoiding downtime and interruptions to students and staff.
Testimonial: Dave Kerry - Estates Service Manager
“Liverpool Hope University Estates Department has used the Electrical Division of Sterling Services for a number of years. They are the university’s main electrical contractor for both large and small projects. Their rates are very competitive for their sector. An important factor in any contractor the university use regularly is flexibility, if there are any changes on variations, Sterling respond quickly. Importantly, we have never had any issues in regard to Health and Safety, their CPP is detailed and their operatives follow these plans.”
I would recommend the electrical division of Sterling Services to other organisations"
June 2020 - Eastcroft Primary School
Client: Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council
Programme: 6 weeks
Challenge: Sterling Services have been awarded the tender for a phased installation of rewire and lighting throughout the Eastcroft Primary School. Qualified electricians with the required Health and safety certifications along with the DBS requirement to work with vulnerable people and children was an important factor for this customer.
We faced several challenges heading into this project, COVID-19 being at the top of our list due to numerous small area installation requirements. Children have also been in attendance at the school on an erratic schedule which posed planning challenges.
Solution: Sterling’s solution is attention to detail and constant overview of phased planning pertaining to this project. Areas were measured in accordance with the install (material) requirement and time allocated for the area. Teams were divided to suit the area requirement in line with social distancing regulations to ensure we work within the guidelines throughout the duration of this project. We opted to work around areas where children and staff were gathered and prepared the install in such a way that these areas will be able to be completed on weekends and when the school is closed down to avoid any chance of contact. Sterling Services understand the responsibility to our community and therefore ensure that all operatives have the correct Health and Safety training as well as the DBS checks required when working with vulnerable people and children.
Client benefit: Planning and constantly reviewing our schedules to ensure a safe environment and consistent workflow on this project has provided peace of mind for our valued customer. Flexibility to work around school holidays to ensure the maximum amount of installations can take place while the schools are closed also works in the customer's favour. Our customer can rest assured that all electricians are qualified within their requirements allowing the customer to focus on other aspects of the project execution.
December 2019 - LFC Training Ground
Programme: 4 weeks
Challenge: The client brief was to repair and replace at height external lighting illuminating the training field and surrounding areas. This request was time sensitive due to the nature of the area requiring lighting.
Challenges presented consisted of accessing the high-level lights in an efficient and safe manner.
Solution: Sterling Services were able to offer a high-level access vehicle (MEWP) currently within our fleet of vehicles. Our trained and certified electricians were able to perform high access requirements quickly and professionally.
Client benefits: Use of readily available high access equipment allowed Sterling to react and complete works within the tight time and budget requirement. Readily available equipment ensured that there was minimal downtime and no disruption to use of the client facilities.
